Right now, the cannabis industry is growing at an astronomical clip. In just the past six short years, marijuana has been legalized for recreational use in nine states and for medicinal purposes in more than 20 and growing. The acceptance for full legalization is at an all-time high across the country and in most industrialized countries around the world.
As a provider of fine humidors and an advocate for the tobacco and canna industry as well as personal choice, we believe it is not only important but essential to recognize the leaders that are moving things forward in this current wild west market across many different aspects of movement.
From entrepreneurs to scientists and doctors to activists and everyone in between, here is a sampling of some of the current cannabis headliners and pioneers who are making a major impact in the marijuana industry.
Tista Ghosh
Dr. Ghosh is a Yale graduate now working for the Colorado Department of Health. Dr. Ghosh is a cannabis advocate, going around the world to educate people of the benefits of cannabis in the medical world. Dr. Ghosh also researches the effects of legal cannabis in the state, and has published many papers of those results. According to this research, the cannabis world has helped Colorado (and many other states, for that matter) significantly.
Ethan Russo
Neurologist Dr. Ethan Russo has long been a marijuana supporter and advocate, with full beliefs that marijuana impacts the health of an individual considerably. He also believes that cannabinoid deficiency is to blame for many health conditions, including MS. Dr. Russo has written many research papers on the topic of marijuana, and continues to strive for legalization in all states.
Rob Kampia
Rob Kampia is the founder of Marijuana Policy Project, an organization that began in 1995 to help end marijuana prohibition. Kampia has been active in the legalization of marijuana since this time. In fact, he’s been influential in many state legalization programs, showing lawmakers the benefits far outweigh the cons.
Keith McCarthy
Cannabis Uber, everywhere, at least in California. It’s with thanks to Keith McCarthy that medical marijuana delivery now exists. Eaze is the company name, although McCarthy has now expanded his services and options for medical marijuana patients in California.
Al Foreman
Al Foreman loves his job as partner and CIO of Tuatara Capital, an investment company that has raised millions of dollars to use for research, marijuana cultivation, and marijuana testing. The latest efforts from Foreman and his team raised over $93 million, a whopping $13 million more than the goal Foreman set.
Mara Gordon
Mara Gordon spends as much time as possible educating the country about marijuana and its benefits. She knows firsthand, as she battled a medical condition that she treated with marijuana. Gordon founded the California based Aunt Zelda’s, a company making cannabis extracts for medical patients.
Dr. Jacqueline Thao Nyguen
Dr. Nguyen is the chief formulator of Ensohara, a CBD-based hemp oil that is sold in California and other parts of the world. The hemp oil has helped many medical patients treat seizures and other health conditions. Dr. Nguyen won Best Clinical Pharmacist Award in 2009, and is the co-founder of Dr. J’s Naturals, a California-based company.
Snoop Dogg
Is any weed-related discussion complete without the mention of Snoop Dogg? He certainly deserves his props in cannabis space; bringing Leafs by Snoop, his own cannabis brand, to states like California and Colorado. He’s also an activist in the legalization of marijuana, oftentimes touring the country to support the cause. And, of course, no one can forget the amazing music created by Snoop Dogg. He’s intrigued us with weed -infused music that we’ve loved since 1993.
